The Best Investments I Made In 2024
Something changed in me when I became a business owner…
My fear of spending money disappeared.
Which honestly sounds a little weird because you’d think when you become the SOLE source of your income with no guarantee of a paycheck, it’d be the other way around.
Before becoming a business owner, I wasn’t necessarily afraid to spend money, but my money mindset was WAY different. I was your classic tortoise – the slow buyer that needs lotssss of details and information before confidently purchasing. 🐢
But about a year or so into business, I realized that intentionally investing my money on things that directly align with my goals only made my business BETTER.
Sometimes those investments would save me time and allow me to put more of my focus somewhere else.
Sometimes those investments would teach me a skill I was lacking that allowed me to run my business better.
Sometimes those investments would directly help me earn more money in my business.
And sometimes yes, those investments are just FUN things that I want to do.
The point here is that learning to confidently and intentionally invest in my business is one of the greatest lessons I’ve ever learned.
This year, my investment list is substantliy lower than it would typically be (because I had a baby, took more time off, and scaled back on work a bit in this season) and the investments are a bit more personal.
But nevertheless, I want to share the list in case you too are searching for what to invest in for your life or business!

5 Of The Best Investments I Made In 2024
Stand Up Copy from Pass the Queso
The ONLY professional investment I made this year was Stand Up Copy with Emelie from Pass the Queso!
This year I really began the pivot from primarily focusing on my 1:1 done-for-you writing services to primarily promoting my done-WITH-you writing membership, The Writer’s Room.
I have big plans for what my membership is going to be (we’re just now entering the second year of its existence!) and since I only plan to grow it from here, I knew I wanted to start finetuning the messaging and knew that Emelie was the BEST person to help me do just that.
With her Stand Up Copy course, you learn to write clear and clever sales copy to convert better than your last launch and in just 6 weeks, you:
✔️create the messaging strategy for the offer
✔️write a one-liner for your offer
✔️wireframe your sales page
✔️and write your sales emails
I signed up for this course when I was only 3 months postpartum, so I was honestly really nervous about how focused I would be able to be and if I’d still get the outcome I wanted.
But luckily, Emelie is insanely good at what she does and she makes things SIMPLE. I’ve literally never wrote a sales page so fast in my life! She also provides feedback that’s actually helpful and makes sure that you nail down your messaging before your 6 weeks is over.
Nuuly Subscription
Technically I made this investment in 2023, but it wasn’t until this year that I realized just how life changing it really is. I’ve never really been one to buy expensive clothes, but I DO understand why people do it.
Quality clothes really do make such a difference, but I can’t bring myself to pay $100 for one sweater. What I CAN get behind is paying $100/month for 6 quality clothing pieces from brands I really love.
Nuuly is truly the clothing subscription that my closet could not live without and it was SUCH a lifesaver during pregancy and postpartum when my sizing fluctuated. The cool part is that if I rent something I really love and decide I want to keep it, I can!
10/10 recommend. ⭐️

Style Refresh with Sophia Bayly
Along the same lines of renting clothes, an investment that I’m really proud of this year is investing in refining my style with Sophia Bayly.
That weird season of life where you’re not a teenager, but you aren’t yet 30 is interesting, especially when it comes to style.
Do I give into the trends? Am I too old for this? And don’t even get me started on my new mom style. A few months after having Dax, I found myself quite literally wanting to throw away my entire closet and start fresh (aside from my monthly Nuuly rentals of course).
Andddd that’s basically what I did when I decided to work with Sophia Bayly for a Style Refresh!
If I could give this to every single mom as a postpartum gift I would. Sophia is so talented and truly helps you solve your style problems so easily.
I’m actually excited to get ready in the mornings now because its like a fun game of making my Pinterest style board come to life!
Can’t recommend Sophia enough, so if 2025 is the year you finally make your style feel like YOU again, inquire with her here and tell her I sent you. 🫶🏼
Continuing to work with my social media manager
One of my best investments of 2023 was hiring a social media manager and this year one of my best investments was continuing to work with her!
I’ve always valued where I spend my time and when it comes to business, I personally prefer to spend the majority of it on the channels that I own – which for me is blog and email content.
With that said, I know how important it is to have a strong social presence and I *do* want to be active on Instagram. What I *don’t* want to do, however, is spend hours on Canva crafting the perfect carousels or sourcing the perfect audio or finding the trending reels.
After having Dax this year, my time became even more precious, which meant that outsourcing certain things in my business is simply the best decision for me right now!
The cool part is that my Instagram content is still from me (and that’s on strategically designing your social content around your blog posts) – but the creation and aesthetic piece that really isn’t my zone of genius gets to be someone else that does it 10000x better than I ever could.

Time with my first baby
And maybe the most important investment of all? TIME with my baby! 👶🏼
Earlier this year I wrote my two year business birthday reflection post and talked about how time is my ultimate roman empire. I am constantly thinking about how time goes so fast yet so slowwwww at the same time.
It truly feels like I just had him yesterday, when in reality it’s been 8. MONTHS.
This concept of time is the very reason that in my second year of business (or really since April), I made the conscious decision to STOP a lot of things.
I stopped taking on as much client work.
I stopped trying to multitask work things with my baby at home.
I stopped doing busy work that didn’t really have a direct impact on my business.
For the first few months of his life, I kept trying to get things “back to normal” until one day as I was laying on the couch contact napping with my son that I literally looked up and realized… things will never be like they used to.
In my life or in my business. And that’s a GOOD thing. It just took me a few months to fully realize that and accept it and be okay with it.
So I’m proud to say that since that realization I’ve truly invested so much of my TIME into being home with my baby through his first year of life and actually enjoy it.
I know I’ll never get this time back and I don’t want to look back on this season of life and wish that I would’ve done things differently.
And I realize that not everyone has the ability to do this OR you may not want to dedicate all of your time to being a mom. That’s okay, too! This is simply what’s worked for me and an investment I’m proud of this year.
Overall, I’m proud of my 2024. Even though it looked a LOT different than years past and was extremely challenging on the personal front, I’m ending it on a high note and feel so excited for what’s to come.
I’m curious – did you make any investments this year that you want to shout from the rooftops? I’d love to hear about them!
