If Blogs Were A Season, They’d Be Fall – Here’s Why

Summer is naturally a season of go, go, go. The days are longer, the air feels lighter, and the overall vibe is energetic. It’s a time of hustle and bustle, where everything seems to move quickly. ☀️⛱️👙🌊

We fill our calendars to the brim with beach trips, backyard barbecues, vacations, and spontaneous road trips. The pace is exhilarating… but can also be exhausting.

We're constantly jumping from one place to another, soaking in the sunshine and taking full advantage of being OOO.

This same energy often seeps into our marketing strategies, too.

Summer becomes synonymous with quick, on-the-go content creation. We can't be bothered to sit down and create thoughtful, long form content, so we lean into what's convenient.

Short bursts of content like Instagram stories or TikTok videos seem to be the go-to, and it makes sense. Doing something feels better than nothing.

And while I’m all for quick content creation, convenience has its drawbacks.

A trendy reel might grab attention for a few days, or a beautifully captured sunset on an Instagram story lets people know you’re alive, these types of content rarely have a lasting impact.

They’re momentary and fleeting, just like summer.

And while there's certainly a time and place for them (guilty!), relying solely on quick-fix, low shelf-life content won’t lead to sustainable, long-term growth in your business.

Enter Blogs: The Fall Season of Marketing

Just like the calm, crisp transition from summer to fall, blogging represents a shift in how you approach your content strategy.

Fall is a time for slowing down, savoring, and focusing on long-term goals. It’s a season marked by thoughtful preparation and harvesting the benefits of hard work.

And much like the fall season, blogs allow you to slowww dowwwnnn in your marketing, focusing on deeper, more meaningful content that will serve you for months (or even years) to come.

Blogs aren’t about chasing trends or trying to keep up with the latest algorithm changes.

Instead, they give you space to thoughtfully craft content that’s not only valuable but TRULY long-lasting.

When you create a blog post, you're creating something that can be repurposed and referenced in the future. It becomes an asset for your business and a resource for your audience that keeps on giving.

Think about the difference between a 15-second Instagram Reel and a well-written blog post.

The reel might get a lot of views today, but what happens tomorrow? Most likely, it's forgotten as soon as the next trend rolls in.

A blog post, on the other hand, continues to work for you long after you hit "publish." It can be shared, bookmarked, and ranked in search engines, delivering value over time.

The Freedom Blogs Offer

A huge reason – if not THE reason – that I preach a blogs first, socials second approach is because of the freedom that this approach brings with it.

Social media can feel like a constant demand for attention, requiring new content every day to stay relevant. But when you lean into blogging, you’re no longer handcuffed to the daily grind of social media. Instead, your blog can serve as the foundation of your content strategy.

Each blog post you write can guide your social media efforts, turning your feed into a place where your audience can continue the conversation. When you approach social media with a blog-first mindset, it becomes more FUN and less forced. 🤸🏻‍♀️

You’re no longer scrambling to come up with new ideas for every post because your blog content has already laid the groundwork. From there, it's easy to break that content down into bite-sized pieces for Instagram, Pinterest, or whatever other platform gets thrown our way!

And I know what you might be thinking…

“But social media is where I get most of my leads, so I HAVE to show up there!”

I hear you and believe it or not, I AM you!

Wait what?? A blog writer gets most of her leads from social?? Yep!

But that doesn’t mean that I prioritize social media over my blog content. As weird as that might sound, here’s why:

Through my blog content, I get the opportunity to provide DEEPER value for my audience.

While sure a social media post might get their attention and pique curiosity, it’s rare that I can provide the thoughtful advice or actionable steps that I really want to provide, which is why I’m always pointing my audience to my blog content for more.

Because at the end of the day, creating content isn’t just about gaining followers or curating a beautiful feed. It's about building relationships, offering real solutions, and becoming a trusted resource in your niche.

Blogs Are The HARVEST of Content Marketing

And lastly, just as fall is a season of harvest, blogging is the KEY to working smarter, not harder when it comes to content creation. In summer, we plant seeds with our quick social posts, but in the fall, we get to gather the fruits of our labor.

Blogging is the harvest of all your content marketing efforts, allowing you to reap long-term rewards for the time you’ve invested.

Because remember: the beauty of blog content is that it’s evergreen. While summer social posts disappear into the noise, a blog remains relevant, generating leads and sales long after the leaves have fallen. 🍂

It’s the kind of content that truly works FOR YOU, even when you’re not actively promoting it.

So, whether or not you're a fan of fall, I can bet you’d be a fan of this slower, more intentional content approach in your business. It’s the strategy that has allowed me, my clients, and my Writer’s Room members to work in a way that feels aligned with the intentional, strategic life we ultimately desire.
