10 Reasons That 2024 Will Continue To Be The Year of The Blog

When I first launched Natty Writes in September of 2022 (well technically I started taking clients in July, but didn’t make it official for a few months), I’ve gotta be honest, I really didn’t follow a ton of people who were utilizing blogs in their business.

Every now and then I would come across someone who had a blog and I would shout “GO YOU!” across the computer screen, but truthfully they were few and far between.

When 2023 started, I started noticing more people come around to the idea. I started to see more talk about blogs on TikTok and different social media feeds and I PROCLAIMED that 2023 would be the year of the blog.

(No really – this is what I wrote in Notes From Natty Entry #10)

And I’m really glad to say that from my POV, that’s exactly what 2023 was.

I personally started to see people shift from *only* social media content to more evergreen content on their owned channels.

When I first started to gain an audience, there were quite a few people who questioned this strategy.

“Blogs?? Like the things that were popular in 2008? Yeah, not sure those are for me.”

But once they understood how blogs can be used in their business, they realized that wait… there might actually be something to this.

And no – I’m not claiming that I am the sole reason people are now blogging in their business.

I’m not the only person out there that preaches blogs for your business, but what I am saying is that I know for a fact that I helped *some* people start implementing blogs in their business this year – either for the first time ever OR helped them get back on track for something they used to do.

As we enter 2024, I’m seeing more and more blog talk across the interwebs and I for one am SO excited about this!

EVERYONE IS SEEING THE LIGHT. SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T THE ONLY WAY.

10 Reasons That More People Are Starting To Use Blogs In 2024

1. With blogs, you don’t have to worry about algorithms or trending audios.

Listen, I love Instagram as much as the next person and it’s honestly where I spend a lot of my time.

But the DIFFERENCE is that I don’t spend my time there re-inventing the wheel. It’s truly impossible to keep up with what’s trending, what’s working, and what the algorithm is up to.

So instead of stressing too much about that, I encourage people to follow a blogs first, socials second approach.

This allows you to create your content first in a place that you OWN and know that it will last forever and then let that content overflow onto your socials.

There’s a lot more that goes into this strategy of mine, so click here for the full content funnel breakdown!

2. You OWN your blog content.

Speaking of owned content, I truly believe that people are WAKING UP to the fact that you have zero control over social media – never have and never will.

This means that you can spend hours of your time creating the bestttt content ever just for it to go *poof* one day against your will. 💨

The way you avoid that? Creating content for your owned channels first – like your blog and emails.

3. Blogs allow you to leverage other platforms like Pinterest.

In addition to blogs picking up traction again, it seems like Pinterest is becoming another it girl among business owners and that’s AMAZING, but guess what?

In order for your Pinterest strategy to work well, you typically want to be able to point people back to content on your website… which would be blogs of course.

(I don’t make the rules, my girl Sarah Burk does.)

4. Blogs build trust and credibility for your audience.

Gone are the days of being able to create the same type of content that everyoneeee else is creating. If you’re a copywriter, that’s great, but there are 50 billion other ones out there and in order for someone to choose YOU, you’ve gotta stand out.

And one of the best ways that you can stand out is through the content that you’re creating.

Social media is awesome for sharing quick tips and tangible takeaways, but your blog content?

THAT is where you get to dive deeper and truly give your audience a download of your brain and provide ultimate value on various topics.

This builds your credibility and trust factor, which means that a potential client can feel 10x more confident doing business with you.

5. Blogs allow your best content to live forever, ever.

If you’re going to put your time and energy into creating amazing content, you want it to last a long time right? Like longer than the 48 hours or less you’re lucky to get on Instagram?

Well, what if I told you that your content *could* literally last forever? No for real, that’s what’s possible with your blog content!

Not only does your blog content stay searchable on Google for YEARS, your audience also has the ability to go directly to your website, search for a topic, and be served content that you created forever ago.

But we can’t say the same with your content on social media now can we? Instead, it gets buried the more that you post, so starting with your blog content first allows you to use your time wisely and know that it’s being spent well!

6. Blogs allow you to STOP reinventing the wheel and make your content creation process 10x easier.

Repeat after me: your blog content, email content, and social media content should NOT be treated as separate things.

While it’s true that the platforms are indeed different, at the end of the day, you have ONE main message in your business.

And that main message should be at the center of every piece of content that you create.

There’s a lot more than I can say about this, but instead I’ll point you here!

7. Blogs help you get found.

When you first start your business what’s one of the first things you do? If I had to guess, it’s probablyyyy build a website. Or hire someone to build one for you!

Either way, there’s a chance that you spend a lot of time (and possibly money) to build your digital billboard, but what good is that billboard if you don’t USE it?

Your website should be more than a place that acts as your business card where people can view your services and get in touch.

Instead, it should be a place where people can get to know more about you, read industry related content, and receive a tonnnn of value just from your site alone.

Blogs can help make sure that your website isn’t just getting lost in the digital sea, but is actually the thing that’s helping you get FOUND!

8. Blogs allow you to go beyond the surface level of your content and dive deep into different topics.

Have you ever had a super awesome content idea and then you try to put it together for a social media post just for it to be wayyyy too long and you can’t really say what you mean?

That’s because social media isn’t designed for long form content. It’s meant to be short, catchy, and to the point.

And while there’s nothing wrong with content like that, if you’re anything like me, you probably want the chance to explain something on a deeper level.

That’s the beauty of blogs. You get the chance to do just that!

9. Blogs allow you to offer more clear and direct call-to-actions.

It’s no secret that social media is noisy in general, but this is especially true when it comes to call-to-actions.

Your audience is being pulled in so many different directions with the options to follow, like, share, click the link in bio and then have the option to click 5 different links…

With this, you’re lucky if someone follows your call-to-action from a post.

That’s not to say that people *won’t* do what you’re asking, but just like in emails you have the chance to be more direct and clear, blogs give you that opportunity as well!

This becomes SUPER important when it comes to selling something, because you want your audience to have ONE option in order to boost conversions.

10. Blogs are a nurture platform AND a sales platform.

What’s really cool about blogs is that they simultaneously serve a few groups of people:

  1. those who are newer to your audience and have never purchased from you, but might be interested

  2. those who love to follow you, but might not need your service at this time

  3. existing customers that have already purchased from you before, but want to stick around

Which means that while your blog primarily acts as a nurture platform for all of these people who are interested in the information, education, and value you provide, it ALSO acts as a sales platform because in the midst of adding value, you’re also building trust.

You’re showing people that you’re an expert in your industry, you know your stuff, and that you can be their go-to person for XYZ.

Allll of that builds your credibility, so that when the group of people who are interested are finally ready to buy, they never even have to question it!

You’re the person for the job without a doubt. How cool is that?
