Why I Created A Done-with-you Blog Writing Membership

As a blog writer and strategist in the online business world, I always knew that I would probably create some sort of course, program, or membership one day.

But I never knew exactly what it would look like. I thought that a few years down the road I would discover a need that’s missing in the market and I would launch something to fill it.

If there’s one thing that I really pride myself on in my business, it’s that I’m super intentional about everything I do.

Intentionality is one of my core values (I talk more about that here!) in both, life and business, which means that I rarely ever do things at random.

I like to think things through, make sure they make sense, and create a thoughtful plan to execute whatever it is that I’m thinking about doing.

So when (or if) the time ever came for me to launch some sort of course or membership into the world, I knew that it would be done the same way.

It wouldn’t be random. It wouldn’t be just so I could scale beyond done-for-you work. It wouldn’t be because that’s what everyone else does in the online business world.

Instead, I would make sure it made sense. I would think it through. I would create a plan to do it well.

So you can imagine that I was taken by major surprise when the idea to launch a membership came to me in December of 2023.

Just a mere year-ish later from launching my business altogether.

Let’s just say launching a membership wasn’t on my 2023 bingo card.  It wasn’t on my goal list for that year. And it’s not something that I wrote down when I did my yearly planning that January.

Soooo what changed? Well, the short of it is this:

In 2023, I had quite a few strategy calls with people in various industries who were starting their blogs from scratch and on almost every single call, people would ask me things like:

“Is there a way we can do this quarterly?”

“Is there any way you could read a few of my blogs before I publish them?”

“Can I send you a few content ideas to make sure I’m thinking in the right direction?”

“Can you give insight about how I can incorporate my blogs into my emails?”

“Do you have any ideas for a lead magnet I could create?”

And I LOVED getting these questions and I LOVED helping anytime I could. But every single time, I just kept wishing that I could help even more.

So that’s when I whipped out a fresh Google doc and started brainstorming. I did this for weeks. Thinking about what exactly this could look like and what would truly be the most helpful.

From that Google Doc, Blogmas was born – a December content challenge that was designed to help people build the consistency of blogging in their business BEFORE the new year even started.

And the rest is history. No really!

During Blogmas, I decided that the momentum people were experiencing couldn’t end. Selfishly I didn’t want it to end. And throughout the three weeks, I kept hearing that neither did they.

So, that’s how The Writer’s Room came to be what it is today.

The Writer’s Room

A Done-with-you Blog Writing Membership for creative business owners & service providers who want blogs to be a core part of their marketing WITHOUT having to spend hours on it.

A place where:

  • You can show up WEEKLY to create long form content for your business with a community of other people doing the exact same thing right alongside you.

  • You can go when writer’s block strikes and you need some inspiration, motivation, or maybe even a tip or two to get you unstuck.

  • You can ask for feedback on content that you aren’t so sure about so that you feel really freaking confident to finally press publish.

Okayyyy but why exactly a place for business owners to work on their content weekly?

Well, because your client isn’t more important than your own content.

Something that I see happening WAYYYY too often is that many business owners and service providers procrastinate creating content for their business because it always feels like client work is more important.

And I totallyyyyy get that. You of course care about your clients and you SHOULD!

I don’t expect you to neglect your client work — after all, that’s what pays the bills right?

But have you ever considered that you might not even have those clients in the first place if you didn’t prioritize creating content for your OWN business??

Too often though, content creation for your business probably looks like this:

When you FINALLY find the time to sit down to write something, you’re met with a blinking cursor and blank Google Doc because it feels so daunting and time consuming?

So instead of creating something that’ll last FOREVER, you close the laptop and jump to a short-form platform because it’s “easier.”

(You know what platform I’m talking about. 🫣)

No, I’m not a mind reader — it’s just that I’ve been there too.

Neglecting content creation for my business because my client work always came first.

Realizing that I needed to create something so I would film a quick Reel or whip something up on Canva just for the sake of posting.

Feeling like I was in a never ending cycle of creating content that was here today and gone tomorrow.

Defeated. Frustrated. Exhausted. Overwhelmed.

UNTIL I finally changed the way I approached content creation.

Not to be dramatic, but implementing a blogs first, socials second approach absolutely changed my business.

And it’s changed my members' businesses too. And I KNOW it can change yours too.

As a member of The Writer’s Room, you get:
