5 Reasons to Hire a Content Writer For Your Business

As a business owner, outsourcing might be something that’s difficult for you. This isn’t true for all business owners, but for those in the newer stages of their business, it’s often hard to let go of certain things and delegate.

And this makes total sense because after all, it is YOUR business. You want things to be on brand, you want content to be written in your voice and sometimes you just want to be in control.

All of those reasons are 100% valid, so if you’re in the middle of this struggle, just know that you are absolutely not alone.

In fact, as I’m writing this in January 2023 - only 8ish months into my business, I’m feeling this too!

There are sooooo many things I want to do in 2023 - a few of those things include:

  • Get real branding (aka not the stuff I just whipped up on Canva within a few days - you gotta start somewhere am I right?)

  • Build a better website (this one is definitely happening this year, btw)

  • Start using Pinterest as a marketing tool (I’ve heard that if you have blogs in your biz, using Pinterest is a must soooo 🤷🏻‍♀️)

  • Take LinkedIn more seriously (I know there’s real power in this platform thanks to my friend, Lindsay)

The list goes on, but those are some high level things that have been swirling in my head for a few months now.

What I know about wanting to do all of those things is that I shouldn’t necessarily be the one that does them. Those things aren’t really my expertise, so deep down I know that if I try to put my time and energy into doing them all on my own, I’ll probably cause more damage for myself down the road.

For example, if I try to create my branding and build a new website, I’ll probably become frustrated and just piece things together that don’t really achieve what I really want.

Instead, investing in someone who lives and breathes branding and websites will produce a much better return for me on all fronts.

Maybe you can relate to this scenario…

You have a list of things you want to do for your business and you’re not sure if you should delegate those things or try to do them yourself.

If that’s you and creating more written content is on your list - specifically in the form of blogs or emails - I want to give you a fresh perspective as to why outsourcing this piece of your business could be the very thing you need to get your message across in a new way to your current audience AND attract new people.

5 Reasons to Hire a Content Writer For Your Business

  • You can communicate in a way that people actually understand.

As a business owner, you have a lot of knowledge and expertise for your industry and this is naturally the zone where you live and breathe. With this comes a lot of jargon and information that other people don’t understand - and honestly, they don't really need to.

Without realizing it, this often comes through in your content and it can confuse people instead of providing clarity and moving them toward action.

A content writer is someone who can come in, learn the basics from you and apply their own research to create a message that actually gets through to people!

  • You can get your message across in a new way.

When you’re working in your business every single day, it can be hard to constantly grasp your audience’s attention in new ways.

A content writer brings a fresh perspective and outlook to your business and can help you word things in witty ways that grabs the attention of your current audience and draws new people in while still remaining on message.

  • You can live in your zone of genius and trust that content is still being created.

It’s no secret that when you own a business, you wear a lot of hats.

For example, if you signed up to be a Realtor, you probably learned real quick that with that also comes the role of: bookkeeper/accountant, marketer, content creator, salesperson, website designer, etc.

In the beginning stages of your business, it’s normal to do all of these things, but as you grow it’s important that you delegate the things that aren’t in your zone of genius so that you can focus on what’s most important.

A content writer can be the person that makes sure you’re showing up on a consistent basis for your audience instead of becoming bogged down with so many tasks and putting off the content creation piece - which is one of the pieces you definitely don’t want to put off if you want to stay top of mind for your people.

When you have someone else helping you create long form content first (in the form of blogs, for example) you can then have something that can drive the rest of what you do on social media WITHOUT starting from scratch, reinventing the wheel or having to do it all on your own.

  • You can boost your rankings on Google.

Content writers typically know the importance of SEO (search engine optimization) and have learned to write in a way that connects with your audience, but also includes strategic language that can boost your rankings on search engines.

They typically have the tools and training needed to do this properly while still keeping your content people centered!

Side note: I personally believe that SEO isn’t the most important reason your business needs long form content and I explain why here!

  • You can save time.

How many times have you sat down to write an Instagram post, blog post or email and you’re met with a blinking cursor for hours? When this happens, you likely become frustrated or impatient and you end up rushing through the writing process just so you can have something to post.

One of the best reasons to have a content writer in your corner is because they can save you from spending hours of your time on something that you don’t necessarily enjoy.

(and by the way, it’s perfectly okay if writing isn’t something you love - after all, you didn’t sign up for it!)

You signed up to serve people well in your industry and oftentimes that’s not going to come from sitting behind a computer all day with the hopes of writing something that connects with people.

Instead, you should be out in conversation with those people and should be out doing the things you really love in your business.

A content writer's literal job is to write, so if you’re tired of trying to make the whole writing thing work because you feel pressured for it to come from you, this is your sign that it is OKAY to delegate this piece of your business.

Content writers know how to adapt to your tone and your voice, so you can trust that the content you receive is true to who you are!

Don’t believe me? Take it from a few of my recent clients:

Overall, delegating certain parts of your business can truly be the thing you need to really catapult your business to the next level. 🚀

I encourage you to join me in outsourcing this year for the thing that makes the most sense for you! If you think that a content writer is in the cards for you, click here to see which service would be the best fit for you.
